When Polka dots meets stripes
When you hear Polka dots, what comes to mind; Mickey Mouse isn’t it. It’s probably the reason why I hated polka dots while growing up. However growing up comes with a lot of changes here and there. Evidently, my style has changed over the years, embracing trends but still infusing my personal style into it. It’s against this background that I decided to try the polka dot trend.
Polka dots is one of the stylish pieces of all time, it’s no wonder why a lot of designers get to show case this outfit on the runway. For instance, Spring/Summer 2018 runways saw a plethora of polka dot looks, some with large bold dots and others somewhat subtle. A lot of fashion influencers too have been big on this trend, daily adorning themselves in these outfits from casual to street style and the likes
It’s one trend that never goes out of time and season. 2018 saw the revival of many retro prints with Polka dots and gingham leading the pack, 2019 is here and it doesn’t look like the trend is going away any time. It keeps making a come back into the fashion piece. If you are not so big on this trend, rather than style this full outfit, you could just add an accent piece say a polka dot shoe/heels or a skirt, or a neck lace
For this particular post, I decided to style my polka dots skirt with a sunglasses with stripe. It wasn’t something I planned more like a last minute outfit with the sunglasses and I loved it. If you are also trying to wear different prints together say stripes and polka dots, I suggest to start with being minimal with it first before metarmorphosing into something slight complex
How do you see this outfit, would you rock the polka dots trend??.. let me know in the comment section… Love and Light, Ada
